Arizona Wildcats
The Arizona Wildcats do not begin 2023 as a nationally ranked team, but that will likely change in the next poll update. This was a regional qualifying team in 2022 and one that should bring that same result in 2023. They will have stiff competition atop the Pac 12, but the early returns on the season are extremely encouraging. Those returns include a win over second ranked Tennessee.
West Virginia Mountaineers
The West Virginia Mountaineers were not a regional qualifying team in 2022, and all projections call for a repeat of that outcome in 2023. They are expected to finish in the bottom half of the Big 12, and early returns this season are showing us the average expectation. They scored three or fewer runs in two of the three games in their first series, and now face their most daunting opponent yet while staying on the road. The Mountaineers do not play a home game until the second week of March and very well could have accumulated significant losses by then.
