Vanderbilt was a regional qualifying team in 2022 and will look to build on that success in 2023. The Commodores will once again have an embarrassment of riches in the pitching department, and that will remain the bread and butter for this top ten ranked squad. Their bats will simply not be competitive with some of the other top teams and they will be a team reliant on their pitching.
UAB Blazers
2022 was the first time the Blazers won 30 games in seven seasons, and came in the first year with Casey Dunn as their manager. While their roster saw significant turnover heading into to 2023, the amount of quality arms on the mound should keep them competitive in many games. They will not be an overpowering offensive team so the reliance on pitching will be there if they are to match their 2022 output. They will once again be a middling team in Conference USA.
