Tulane Green Wave
Tulane had a great season this year in the American Athletic Conference this year, going 11-2 and coming into bowl season ranked 16th in the nation. They won three straight games to end the season, including the AAC championship game against UCF. Now, they will aim for the biggest win of their season against the mighty USC Trojans.
As is always the case in games like this one, the question for Tulane is whether or not they can adjust to the step up in level of competition in this contest. There is a huge difference between dominating AAC competition and competing in the trenches against a team from the Pac-12. The point of attack will be the key to this contest for the Green Wave as a result.
USC Trojans
The USC Trojans also went 11-2 this season, but the end of their season was a disappointing one. The Trojans were ranked in the top-four of the College Football Playoff rankings going into the Pac-12 title game. But they fell short in that game, losing to Utah for a second time this year to deny them a chance to play for the national title.
For USC, there are two major questions going into the Cotton Bowl. First, how are they going to respond to the letdown that they suffered in their last game? Also, which players will be sitting and which players will be looking to compete in this New Year's Six bowl game? The answers to those questions could determine the outcome of this non-conference tilt.
