TCU Horned Frogs
TCU started its season with a win on Friday over the Vanderbilt Commodores, notching a top-10 win right off the bat. The Horned Frogs trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning against Vandy, but scored nine runs across their next two innings at-bat to run away with an 11-4 win in that contest. On Saturday, the Horned Frogs will look for as second straight win over a top-10 opponent at Globe Life Field, this time against Arkansas.
For TCU to get another significant win early in the season, they will need Elijah Nunez to deliver again at the plate. He went 3-5 with four RBI against Vanderbilt, and really jump started the Horned Frogs offensively after a sluggish start. Look for him to be impactful again if the Horned Frogs are to improve to 2-0.
Arkansas Razorbacks
The Arkansas Razorbacks got a win over the Texas Longhorns in their season opener on Friday, winning a 3-2 game in the College Baseball Showdown. TCU won their first game with its offense, while Arkansas did it with their pitching. Hagen Smith threw five innings of shutout ball for the Hogs, who scored all three of their runs in one inning to take the lead and never look back against the Longhorns.
In this contest, the question will be whether the Razorbacks can achieve the same level on the mound that they enjoyed in game one of the season. If they cannot, the Horned Frogs could have a distinct offensive advantage, but the pitching of Arkansas certainly cannot be completely counted out just because their top starter is unavailable.
