Lightning vs Avalanche

Lightning

As the series goes on, Tampa Bay's defense has gotten better. The Lightning has only given up two goals in regulation time in each of their last two games, so the loud crowd in Denver shouldn't throw them off. In the 2022 East Final, the Lightning hit a comeback from being two games down and won against the New York Rangers. Being resilient is one of the best things about the defending champions.

During the regular season, the Lightning gave up only 2.78 goals per game, which was sixth in the NHL. Andrei Vasilevskiy, who won the Conn Smythe last year, is a wild card. With a save percentage of .920, the four-time All-Star goalie is only letting in 2.57 goals per game in the playoffs. Vasilevskiy has also stopped 71 shots over the last two games.

Tampa Bay is a tough team to beat in a seven-game series because they are tough on defense and have a deep, talented offense with real stars.

Avalanche

Colorado is flying high and coming home with a big advantage. The Avalanche are 15-3 in the playoffs and have beaten every team they've played. That includes winning eight of the last nine games, and the team has been unbeatable at Ball Arena this season. The Avalanche were 32-5-4 at home during the regular season, and Colorado is riding the momentum of a memorable Game 4 win.

Nazem Kadri scored the game-winning goal on his first game back after breaking his thumb in the Western Conference Finals. That overtime win made things even better for Colorado since a 3-1 lead usually holds up well in the NHL. Teams that are up 3-1 in a Stanley Cup Playoff series have won 298 of 329, including the Stanley Cup Final 35-1. It's even better for teams that host Game 5 and a possible Game 7, and the Avalanche are living up to their talents behind a strong roster.
