The Las Vegas Raiders needed a lifeline last week and they got it against the New England Patriots. Tied at the end of regulation, the Raiders benefited from a series of ill-advised laterals by the Patriots, with Chandler Jones returning one such lateral for a game-winning touchdown. Here, the Raiders look to move even closer to a potential playoff spot with another win against a fellow Wild Card contender.
For the Raiders, stopping the run has to be their top priority this week. They were destroyed on the ground by the Patriots last week, and another poor performance against the run could see them out of playoff contention once and for all.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers also come into this game off of a win, having beat the Carolina Panthers last week. The Steelers emasculated the Panthers at times in that game, running the ball and setting the tone in the second half with a 12-minute touchdown drive that ended up putting things away for good.
This week, the Steelers need to feed Najee Harris the ball as often as they possibly can in order to win. The Raiders have made it very clear that stopping the run is not something they can do consistently. If the Steelers can exploit that, this game could go their way from the start.
