✅ This Pat Sabatini vs TJ Laramie matchup has similarities to the main event of the card. With that similarity in mind, it is much worse for the underdog than in the main event. The stylistic mismatch in this fight is reflected in the -435 betting line and frankly, it could be even wider.
Pat Sabatini is extremely well rounded and is a threat everywhere. He has won his first three fights in the promotion, including one via a slick heel hook against Jamall Emmers. He will have a decided advantage in the stand up portion of this fight. The one area Sabatini may not be better in this matchup is in the wrestling. He may not be able to complete his own takedowns with ease. No matter, we already noted he is the superior striker and he also has the superior BJJ game. If Sabatini is able to get takedowns, great, he will cut through Laramie quite easily. If Laramie takes Sabatini down, still not a worry. Sabatini will find sweeps or perhaps even submissions from his back.
✅TJ Laramie won his way into the UFC via doctor stoppage on his Dana White Contender Series fight. He was then matched up with Darrick Minner who promptly submitted Laramie in under a minute in his debut. The promotion, seemingly wanting Laramie to prove something, has not relented with the difficulty of matchups. After fights with Damon Jackson and Melsik Baghdasaryan were cancelled, Laramie draws the toughest matchup yet in Sabatini. Laramie is a fighter that will need to wrestle to find success in most matchups. His striking leaves plenty to be desired and his BJJ game is snot anything resembling elite. He does not draw an opponent here that he will be able to put that game plan to use on.
✅ In totality, Sabatini has all bases covered in this fight. Even with that being the case, I never have interest in laying over four to one. Where we find value is on the +125 ITD line. I believe a submission is the most probable outcome. The value laden play is Sabatini ITD and is the only way to attack this fight
