New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals

New York Mets

Despite playing well throughout the 2022 season, the New York Mets are only three games ahead of the Atlanta Braves in the NL East. The team is led by a talented lineup with several weapons, such as Pete Alonso, who has been hitting .253 with 26 home runs and 84 RBIs. The rest of the offense also contributes to the team's success, averaging 4.66 runs per game.

The Mets have one of the best pitching staffs in the league, as they enter the season with a record of 3.55 and are currently fifth in the league in ERA. They are also led by a solid performance from Max Scherzer, who has made an impressive start to the season with a 6-2 record and a solid 2.09. Jacob deGrom, a two-time Cy Young winner, is expected to return from his injury soon.

Washington Nationals

The Washington Nationals have not been kind to themselves in 2022 so far. They are currently in the National League and have struggled to create consistent performances. One of the main reasons they have been struggling is their pitching, which is currently ranked 29th in the league in ERA. The Nats also have the fewest quality starts in the rotation, which means they are not getting much chance to utilize their long-term talent. Their bullpen has additionally been severely strained.

Despite the presence of some offensive stars such as Josh Bell and Juan Soto, the Nationals have struggled to generate runs consistently. They are currently 26th in the league regarding average runs per game. They have also struggled to hit the ball hard, as they only produce 79 home runs.
