National League vs American League
National League All-Stars
There is a lack of depth in the National League starting lineup, as compared to the American League. Even so, the National League is not short on talent with players like Paul Goldschmidt (Cardinals), Manny Machado (Padres), and Mookie Betts (Dodgers).
Twenty homers, 70 RBIs, and 112 hits are all career highs for Goldschmidt at St Louis. Machado leads San Diego with 15 home runs and 51 RBIs.
Also playing in the National League are Jazz Chisholm Jr. (Marlins), Trea Turner (Dodgers), Ronald Acuna Jr. (Braves), Joc Pederson (Giants), and William Contreras (Braves), taking over at DH for Bryce Harper (Phillies).
Despite not starting, Pete Alonso (Mets) is one of the best hitters in the National League. There will also be other reserves Nolan Arenado (Cardinals) and Dansby Swanson (Braves) in action.
Sandy Alcantara (Marlins), Corbin Burnes (Brewers), and Joe Musgrove (Padres) are all worthy of starting for the National League, but only one will do so. Other pitchers on the roster include Tony Gonsolin (Dodgers), Clayton Kershaw (Dodgers), Luis Castillo (Reds), and Edwin Diaz (Mets).
American League All-Stars
In the American League, former MVPs Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels are among the starting lineup, along with Aaron Judge (Yankees), Giancarlo Stanton (Yankees), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Blue Jays), and Rafael Devers (Red Sox).
With 33 home runs and 69 RBIs, Judge leads the league in home runs. Meanwhile, Devers is one of baseball's most underappreciated stars. His.325 hitting average ranks third in the major leagues. The Boston Red Sox have the league's fifth-best offense, with Devers at the helm.
Ohtani, a two-way ace for the Los Angeles Angels, boasted 19 home runs and 56 RBIs. Ohtani was selected as both a designated hitter and a pitcher for the second consecutive season, the first in MLB history. Tim Anderson (White Sox), Jose Altuve (Astros), and Alejandro Kirk (Blue Jays) complete the American League starting lineup.
The best pitchers in the American League are Shane McClanahan (Rays) and Justin Verlander (Astros).
