Miami Dolphins vs Cincinnati Bengals
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins defeated the Buffalo Bills in Week 3, keeping up their winning ways after they beat the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens earlier in the season.
The Dolphins and the Bills started the game at 2-0, but the Dolphins were the ones to move to 3-0, despite being outgained by over 200 yards in the game by Buffalo. Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa threw for 186 yards and scored a touchdown. RB Chase Edmonds led the ground game by scoring two rushing touchdowns. The Dolphins also relied on WR Jaylen Waddle on the air, who secured a total of four catches.
Tua Tagovailoa walked off in the second quarter due to a suspected head injury, but returned to the field after halftime. His status for Week 4 remains uncertain. It's also unclear whether Jaylen Waddle, who suffered a groin injury, will play on Thursday.
The Dolphins now hold the number one spot in the AFC East, but will go on the road with only a few days to prepare for the Bengals this week.
Cincinnati Bengals
After defeating the New York Jets 27-12, the Bengals are finally building some momentum after an 0-2 start.
In the game against the Jets, Joe Burrow completed 23 of 36 passes for 275 yards, in spite of being challenged by the defenses of the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers in the previous weeks. Burrow eventually managed to secure the Bengals first victory by taking advantage of a weak pass rush of the Jets.
WR Tyler Boyd caught four passes for 105 yards and scored a touchdown against the Jets, while WR Tee Higgins finished with five catches for 93 yards. WR Ja'Marr Chase recorded six catches for 29 yards and a touchdown. The defense also shut down the Jets' offense in the fourth quarter, allowing the Bengals to maintain their lead.
The team has since announced a few injuries. TE Drew Sample, who has a knee ailment, is scheduled to return in Week 13; while it remains uncertain whether Tee Higgins (toe), TE Mitchell Wilcox (ankle), and CB Eli Apple (ankle) will recover in time to play the Dolphins on Thursday.
