LSU Tigers
The LSU Tigers led much of their game on Monday against Wake Forest, but they could not hold that lead down the stretch. Instead, they gave up three runs over the final few innings, and could not respond with any offense of their own in a 3-2 loss to the number one team in the nation. Now, LSU faces elimination against a Tennessee team that they have played several times already this season, including once already in Omaha.
LSU is 3-1 against the Volunteers so far this season, with all three of their previous wins against Tennessee coming by two runs or more. Here, LSU has to get out to a fast start against the Vols to nullify the impact of the Tennessee bullpen in this must-win contest.

Tennessee looked like it was heading for a two and out in the College World Series on Monday, as they fell behind against the Stanford Cardinal in their elimination matchup. But the Vols got six shutout innings out of Chase Burns out of their bullpen and came back to win that game 6-4 to set up this rematch with LSU. Now the question is whether the Vols can pitch well enough to knock LSU out despite Burns likely being unavailable on Tuesday.
The Volunteers have fallen behind in both of the games they have played at this College World Series so far. They have to avoid an early deficit against LSU if they are going to have a chance to once again avoid elimination and move closer to the championship series.
