Last updated December 23, 2022
On Christmas Eve, the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys will square off in an NFC East rivalry game. That game could be the end of the NFC East championship race, as the Eagles are a win or a Cowboys loss from securing the division title. But if they are going to clinch the division this week, they will need to do so without their league MVP candidate.

Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles need to win just one of their final three games to secure the NFC East title, or for the Dallas Cowboys to lose one of their final three games. They could get both of those things on Christmas Eve if they beat the Cowboys on Saturday. For that to happen, the Eagles will need to find a way to score without star quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Hurts is likely to miss the remainder of the regular season with a shoulder injury. It will be up to the rest of the Eagles offense to fill the void, including their likely replacement quarterback in Gardner Minshew. That may be a tall task against an elite defense in that of the Cowboys.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are likely to end up in a Wild Card spot rather than winning the NFC East. But they do have a great chance to pull a game back against the Eagles in this contest at home. With no Jalen Hurts for the Eagles, the Cowboys pass rush could have a field day against a backup quarterback.
A win in this game would also make sure that the Cowboys could do no worse than the fifth seed in the NFC playoffs. Finishing fifth could be the ideal spot for any team in this postseason, as that would mean a game against an NFC South champion that could finish the regular season below .500.
