Utah State Can Not Make It To The 2023 NCAA Tournament Projections

Last updated April 24, 2022

The NCAA tournament for 2022 was completed 2 weeks ago. ESPN's Joe Lunardi officially announced the projections for the bracket of the teams who would compete in the 2023 tournament on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. Other components of the bracket include the Top Ten, SEC, and Top 12 each receiving seven spots. The Big 12 is expected to finish in the top seven in the 2019 NCAA basketball tournament, according to these estimates. For the second year in a row, the Big 12 was host to the national champions.

Joe Lunardi's Bracket 2023 estimates are listed below

The no.1 Big 12 team to be seeded the following season was Baylor Bears. The Bears had failed to get past the second round of the NCAA tournament and were likely to lose some of its key players. The Bears, on the other hand, have made forward and guard transfers in recent days. According to the forecasts, the Bears will face the Longwood Lancers.

The Kansas Jayhawks were relegated to the second seed in the bracket due to a significant drop in their performance. David McCormack has left the organization to enter the NBA Draft. In the first round, the Jayhawks will face the Colgate Raiders.

According to Lunardi's estimate, TCU Horned Frogs will be the fifth seed. After Mike Miles declined the NBA Draft, the Horned Frogs will play with their full roster once again. The Horned Frogs are expected to face the Toledo Rockets in the NCAA tournament.

On the court, the Texas Longhorns are seeded sixth, which is fantastic news for next season. This has to do with Timmy Allen's return as a striker and Marcus Carr's return as a guard. The strange thing about this prognosis is that the Longhorns will face the Virginia Tech Hokies, who were their first-round opponent in the previous tournament.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are placed seventh in the bracket and will meet the UConn Huskies in the first round. Terrence Shannon Jr., Kevin McCullar, and Kevin Obanor have already left the Red Raiders due to player transfers. All three players are eligible to play for the Red Raiders again.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys do not qualify for the NCAA since they are still on probation. However, he returned to the court as the eighth seed, and in the first round, he would face the Oregon Ducks, the ninth seed. Despite losing three players in the summer, including Keylan Boone, the Cowboys' performance has remained rather consistent.

On the other hand, The Oklahoma Sooners, are seeded tenth and will meet the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Sooners were on the verge of missing the tournament, but Tanner Groves' comeback gave them a boost. Umoja Gibson, on the other side, is preparing for the NBA Draft, while Elijah Harkless is tracking player transfers to the UNLV Runnin' Rebels.

Bracket 2023 projection list disappoints the state of Utah

None of the six Utah state teams qualified and made it into the projections, as can be seen from the list above. Mountain West teams such as Colorado State, Wyoming, and San Diego State are expected to play in the seven-team Utah state conference. Six Utah clubs, though, will not compete in the NCAA tournaments next season, according to official forecasts released by Lunardi.
